DID JESUS TAKE THE HUMAN NATURE OF THE SANCTIFIED BRETHREN?

As soon as there was sin, there was a Saviour. As soon as Adam and Eve sinned, there was a Saviour, hence speaking of Jesus, the Bible says he was the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world. John 1:29, Rev 13:8

There is a doctrine circulating among Sabbath Keeping Christians based on Hebrews 2:11 which states that Jesus partook of the human nature of the SANCTIFIED brethren. It is a false narrative not founded on rightly dividing the WORD of truth so let us not believe every spirit but try (or test) the Spirits whether they are of God. 1John 4:1

THE FALL OF MAN

The Bible simply says: Thy first father hath sinned - Isaiah 43:27

The Lord comes searching for them in the garden and confronts them and the tempter  in Genesis 3:8-15

THE PROMISE

The promise of a saviour and salvation was made in Genesis 3:15, that the Lord God would put enmity between the serpent and the woman and between the serpent’s seed and the woman’s seed.

Do not allow this verse to simply fly over the top of our heads because this truth concerning the human nature of Christ, (the seed of the woman) the Lord spoke directly to the serpent so the serpent is very well aware of the truth concerning the human nature of Jesus and is very clever as to how to obscure or be deceptive with what the Lord said like he did to Eve in the garden. – hath God said? You can just hear him say, Did God really say that Jesus took our fallen, sinful human nature?

WHAT SORT OF WOMAN?

What sort of Woman was the Lord talking about to the serpent?

In the context of what happened in the garden, (Genesis 3:12-14) the Lord was talking about:

  • the woman who had listened to the serpent,

  • the woman who took onboard the serpent’s lies,

  • the FALLEN woman,

  • the woman who had SINNED.

  • The woman whose human nature was tainted by her sin.

  • The woman whose human nature was tainted her transgression of the law.

Hence the Human nature of Christ, the seed of the woman, (cf Gal 3:16,  Matt 1:1) should have been settled right here in the garden because the fallen woman by the law of heredity could only pass to her seed, her fallen human nature, Amen? Amen! But you know the devil likes to muddy the waters with what the Bible says and he is especially good at it.

Speaking of the woman’s seed, the scripture says, Thou hast loved righteousness and HATED iniquity… Hebrews 1:9

CHRIST HATES INIQUITY

  • It is the very antithesis of his character (Romans 13:10)

  • It led to the death of his creation.

  • The two people made in God's image ‘died’, ‘ceased’ to exist that day.

  • Pre-fall Adam and pre-fall Eve no longer existed. Now there’s the clue.

  • Adam & Eve had transitioned from pre-fall sinless natures to fallen natures.

  • They had TAINTED their perfect sinless natures with this thing called SIN

  • The Bible says, Thy first father hath sinned  (Isaiah 43:27)

  • And with that sin, they now possessed natures that were fallen, sinful, etc

  • Hence, the original Adam and Eve with unfallen natures had ceased to exist.

A CHILD IS BORN, A SON IS GIVEN

So when the prophet said, “For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given….” (Isaiah 9:6), we need to ask whose child was he and whose son was he?  What was his Father’s name and what is his son’s name?

Answer: "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God." (John 1:1) His Father’s name is GOD and the Son’s name is “the WORD OF GOD” (John 1:1, Rev 19:13)

He was the child and son of the most high God, the son of God, whom King Nebuchadnezzar saw in the burning fiery furnace He answered and said, Lo, I see four men loose, walking in the midst of the fire, and they have no hurt; and the form of the fourth is like the Son of God. (Daniel 3:25)

BUT he was ALSO the child and son of ADAM, amen? Amen. (Luke 3:23-38)

Which Adam? Why, he was the child and son of FALLEN Adam who was the only Adam who ever had literal children born after he sinned!

Hence what was his father’s name? Adam (Luke 3:23-38)

What is his Son’s name? Jesus (Matt 1:21)

And despite being called that Holy thing in his divinity because his father was God, he was born of a sinful woman (Luke 1:47), MADE of a sinful woman, made under the law, to redeem them that were under the law (Gal 4:4,5) He was the woman’s seed of Genesis 3:15

Hence true to prophecy of Genesis 3:15, He was the seed of the Fallen Woman called Mary and not the sinless woman of the Papacy’s invention, the woman of the Papacy's Immaculate Conception.

So, there we have it.

Christ's Divine Nature:

  • Christ's Father's name was GOD

  • Christ is the SON of GOD and his name is the WORD of God

Christ's Human Nature:

  • Christ's ‘father’s' name was Adam who possessed a sinful human nature

  • Christ's name is Jesus, the Son of Adam - Luke 3:23-38

  • Christ's human mother was FALLEN ‘Eve’ (Mary) who possessed a sinful nature

And then we go give ourselves licence to say that Jesus took Adam’s PRE-FALL nature? Or that He took both Adam’s PRE-FALL and POST-FALL natures? Or

that He took the human nature of the sanctified brethren?

What a disaster and we’ve only just begun the Bible study! What a way to go, but let’s continue.

AND THE WORD WAS MADE FLESH!

His NAME is the WORD OF GOD (Rev 19:13)

So, the Scripture says, And the Word (Divine nature) was MADE FLESH (human nature)... (John1:14)

The Question is, what sort of FLESH was Christ made with?  You realise his human nature was created, right?

Now the Word translated FLESH is “sarx” with Strongs concordance number 4561 which has the important meaning for this study of:

sarx

“IV  the flesh, denotes mere human nature, the earthly nature of man apart from divine influence, and therefore prone to sin and opposed to God

  • This is certainly not Adam’s human nature before the fall.

  • This is a post fall nature

  • This nature is apart from divine influence

  • This nature is prone to sin

  • This nature is opposed to God.

Therefore, when the Bible says he was the son of David, the Son of Abraham (Matt 1:1) it is speaking of sinful David and sinful Abraham (Rom 3:23) because there is no such thing as a sinless David or Abraham or anyone for that matter and we know how much of a sinner David was.

And that he was made of the seed of David according to the FLESH (Rom 1:3) There’s that word “sarx” again translated FLESH here in Rom 1:3 Therefore, it was David with fallen sinful flesh, fallen sinful mere human nature, prone to sin and opposed to God.

Furthermore, Paul says in Rom 8:3,4: For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God sending his own son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh:  That the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.

In every instance in verses 3 and 4 the word translated FLESH is the Greek word ‘sarx’ and has the meaning as noted above, sinful human nature as in Rom 8:3, “sinful flesh”

This is fallen degenerate human nature. You couldn't get anymore clearer than that.

And again in Hebrews 2:14, Forasmuch then as the children are partakers of flesh and blood, he also himself, likewise took part of the same; that through death he might destroy him that had the power of death, that is, the devil.

Note the children are partakers of FLESH, (sarx) –  partakers of that sinful human nature opposed to God and prone to sin which they inherited from their father, fallen Adam.

Note also the repetitive definitive emphasis in Hebrews 2:14 of Jesus taking our flesh and blood, our sinful flesh (nature):

  • It wasn't only that He took part of the same flesh and blood

  • But that He also, took part of the same flesh and blood

  • And again, the Bible says He also, himself, took part of the same flesh & blood

  • Neither is this all for it says He also, himself, likewise took part of the same flesh & blood

So definitive and emphatic is verse 14 that it leaves no doubt as to what Human Nature Jesus partook of. It was ours, fallen, sinful flesh. Praise the Lord he became one of us yet he did no sin in our fallen human nature and kept his human nature perfectly sinless, unblemished, untainted by sin on his part. Like Jesus said "...for the prince of this world cometh, and hath nothing in me." John 14:30. Now, none of us can make that sort of claim because we have all sinned (Rom 3:23) – what a victory! What a saviour!

ALL FLESH (sarx) IS AS GRASS

For all FLESH is as grass, and all the glory of man as the flower of grass. The grass withereth, and the flower thereof falleth away.,  1Peter 1:24

The Bible illustrates / compares our fallen human nature (the Flesh or “sarx”) to grass.

  • Our human nature is as grass

  • It is of corruptible seed

  • This is grass that withereth

  • This is that grass, the flower of which, falleth away

  • Christ took degenerate human nature like that of grass that withereth

  • Christ took human nature like that of the flower of grass that falleth away

The description of our flesh as grass which withereth is apt because it is degenerate fallen human nature, NOT the nature of Adam before the fall but of Adam AFTER the fall.

By analogy:

  • In Eden there was no sin until the day Adam & Eve sinned of course.

  • In Eden, there was no corruptible seed

  • In Eden the grass did not wither

  • In Eden the flower of grass did not fall away

  • Hence Adam’s pre-fall nature would be like the sort of grass in Eden

  • His pre-fall nature was certainly not like grass that withereth and the flower thereof that falleth away such as ours is after his fall!

FINALLY, - DID JESUS TAKE THE HUMAN NATURE OF THE SANCTIFIED BRETHREN?

The Bible says we must study and rightly divide the word of truth (2Tim 2:15)

The following is a case of NOT rightly dividing the Word of truth!

There is a doctrine taught among Sabbath keeping Christians based on Hebrews 2:11 which teaches that Christ took the HUMAN nature of the SANCTIFIED BRETHREN only. That Jesus did not become one of us but that he took pre-sanctified human nature.

Hebrews 2:11  “For both he that sanctifieth and they who are sanctified are all of one: for which cause he is not ashamed to call them brethren”

This doctrine basically teaches Hebrews 2:11, if I am correct, as follows:

  • Christ is the sanctifier.

  • Christ sanctified certain people, (predestination??), “he that sanctifieth”

  • The assumption is the process of sanctification results in a sanctified nature

  • Having sanctified these people, Christ takes their sanctified human nature.

  • Thus Christ, the sanctifier and the people sanctified, … are all of one

  • For which cause Christ is not ashamed to call them brethren

  • The reason he is not ashamed is because they are one in SANCTIFIED nature

But is this the case? Notice what the verse is saying:

1.  He that sanctifieth

o   Christ is the one who sanctifies

o   How does he do it?

o   Through the WORD (John 17:17)

2.  They who are sanctified

o   Who are these people who are being sanctified?

o   It is us who are sanctified.

o   Then who are we? – sinners!

o   Notice: That while we without strength … Christ died for us (Rom 5:6)

o   It is sinners with sinful natures who are without strength whom Christ died for.

o   Notice: …that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us (Rom 5:8)

o   Who are these? Those with sinful natures are the ones whom Christ died for.

o   that when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of his son

o   Who were the enemies of God and Christ?

o   It is us, with sinful natures who were the enemies reconciled to God by his death

3.  He that sanctifieth and they who are sanctified are all of one

o   Who is the one who sanctifies?

o   It is God who sanctifies!

o   Who are the ones who are being sanctified?

o   It is us of Romans 5:6,7, 8, sinners, enemies of God, the ones with sinful natures

o   How then are we sanctified?

o   Jesus said “Sanctify them through thy truth, thy word is truth (John 17:17)

o   They are sanctified through the WORD, Amen? Amen!

4.  For which cause he is not ashamed to call them brethren

o   Who are the brethren?

o   It is us, sinners, with sinful fallen natures

o   Note how Hebrews chapter 2:11-16 declares who Christ’s brethren are!

o   Verse 11 – Christ is not ashamed to call them BRETHREN

o   Who are the Brethren of verse 11?

o   They are the SONS of verse 10

o   Verse 12 – I will declare thy name unto my BRETHREN

o   Verse 13 – Behold I and the CHILDREN (Sons of v 10) whom God hath given me

o   Verse 14 – Forasmuch as the CHILDREN are partakers of FLESH (sarx) and blood

o   Verse 14 – He partook of the same FLESH (sarx)  cf John 1:1,14

o   Verse 14 – He also partook of the same FLESH (sarx)

o   Verse 14 – He also himself partook of the same FLESH (sarx)

o   Verse 14 – He also himself likewise partook of the same FLESH (sarx)

o   What was the reason he partook of the same FLESH (sarx) ?

o   Verse 14 - That through death he might destroy the devil - the power of death

o   He destroyed our death penalty by dying on our behalf

o   He destroyed the devil’s power of death over people to commit sin.

o   And the wages is death!

o   Verse 15 - He partook of our FLESH to deliver us who were subject to bondage

o   We are subject to bondage because of the FLESH (sarx) we inherited

o   He took fallen FLESH (sarx)  in order to deliver us from Sin

o   Verse 16 – Hence it says he took the flesh of the seed of Abraham

o   The seed of Abraham are the children of Abraham who possessed fallen FLESH

o   Verse 17 - Hence in all things it behoved him to be made like unto his brethren

o   And the reason he was made that way with the same nature?

o   Verse 18 -  So that being tempted he is able to help them that are tempted!

He was made with fallen flesh just like his brethren of Hebrews 2:11

May God bless you as you study into these things

Elias
